3) The Domogled – Cernei Valley Park stretches over three counties: Caraş – Severin, Mehedinţi and Gorj, and has an area of 61 121 ha, of which 21 923 ha in Caraş – Severin County.

Cerna Valley and Domogled have a distinct attractiveness grace to the picturesque landscape, the existence of thermal mineral waters, the special variety and the richness of Mediterranean flora and fauna, as well as the high negative air ionization. The natural cure factors of Herculane Baths, created by the special qualities of the 20 springs (of which half are used!) of thermo mineral waters, the gentle climate with Mediterranean influences and the high negative ionization (between 2000 and 6400 of negative ions / cm3of air) have a particularly beneficial effect on the human body and brings the spa resort closer to the most famous resorts from Europe such as Davos (Switzerland) and the Niagara Falls.
The combination of special natural elements, namely the thermal caves, unique in Romania and very rare in the world, the virgin beech forests, untouched by the hands of man,enduring for centuries, steep slopes of Banat Black Pin, waterfalls, caves and gorges having a spectacular unfolding from 168 m (in the Herculane Baths resort) up to over 2,000 m, a fauna very rich in butterflies(over 1,500 species) and a flora with many rarities offer the possibility of trips made on some unforgettable routes. The largest night-time butterfly from Romania and from Europe has the scientific name of SaturniaPyri, its wings bear the images of eyes that are nothing more than a “mask of intimidation” and can be found in the Herculane Baths Resort.
